Jiangyin is a major county-level city in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, with an area of 988 square kilometers and a population of 1.21 million.
It has won many awards including "National Hygiene City", "National Ecological City" and "National Model City for Science and Technology Progress".
Jiangyin is a historical and cultural city with a long human history of 7,000 years, a civilization history of 5,000 years, a fortification history of 3,800 years and a recorded history of 2,500 years. It is home to Wu Culture.
It is a prosperous city with a strong private economy and manufacturing industry, covering more than 40 listed companies. It was ranked first in the economic competitiveness of China's counties (or cities at county-level) many times and was honored as "the leading prosperous county-level city in China".
It is an ecological and livable city, with a construction area of 55 square kilometers in the main urban area, reaching about 66 percent in rural urbanization rate.
