All graduates under 45 years old from domestic and foreign colleges and universities or who have acquired technical titles are eligible to enjoy a wide range of preferential policies if working and living in Wuxi, according to the latest measures for attracting talents released by the local government on April 10.
Qualifying graduates must have received a bachelor's degree or above from a full-time regular college or foreign college or university certified by the Ministry of Education, or have a professional technical title of deputy senior or above, as well as a national vocational qualification of second level or above (vocational and technical level).
A series of measures to help people take up residence in the city, apply for jobs and deal with basic life necessities have been taken in order to attract elite workers to help boost the city's modern industries.
According to the measures, qualified graduates can apply for Wuxi residence before obtaining employment. Those with a bachelor's degree can receive an annual rent subsidy of 10,000 yuan ($1,416.45) for two years, and those with a master's degree or doctoral degree can receive 15,000 yuan and 20,000 yuan respectively.
Graduates who study abroad at a top 100 college or university or study one of the top 20 majors can receive the corresponding subsidies for three years. One-time living allowances of 10,000 yuan, 20,000 yuan and 30,000 yuan will be given respectively on the basis of the individual's degree. They can also enjoy benefits when taking public transportation and visiting tourist attractions.
For graduates who are willing to start their businesses in Wuxi, the government will provide various forms of financial support for their projects and life expenses. A one-time opening subsidy of 6,000 yuan and an annual rent subsidy of up to 10,000 yuan for three years will be offered.
Financial support of up to 3 million yuan will be given to those who develop innovative projects qualified for the Taihu Lake Talent Plan. Those elected by the Taihu Lake Talent Plan can apply for a special “talent loan” of up to 10 million yuan.
College students visiting Wuxi to attend practical scientific activities can receive a transportation subsidy of up to 1,500 yuan, an accommodation subsidy of up to 380 yuan and a meal subsidy of up to 200 yuan each time.
Enterprises can also receive 2,000 yuan each they hire a new college graduate.
In addition, Wuxi will give more support to graduates in need from Hubei province, the area hardest-hit by the novel coronavirus epidemic in China, in order to help college graduates from the province gain employment.
