The Canal Art Park in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, opened to the public on Dec 23.
Renovated from the Canal Park, the art park integrates Grand Canal culture, Jiangnan culture, and Wuxi's local culture and includes 16 sculptures and other art installations such as Huishan clay figurine Da A Fu.

This renovation was guided by sponge-city, child-friendly, and low-carbon principles and has increased vegetation-covered area and added lighting fixtures and other supporting facilities to the park, according to a staff member of Wuxi Urban Construction Development Group Co Ltd, which is responsible for the renovation.

Renovations on the Canal Park's B and C zones will start in 2023, said the staff member.

On the opening day of the art park, experts such as Wei Jie, dean of the School of Design of Jiangnan University and Zhang Can from the Architectural Society of China were invited to share their thoughts on constructing a public art center in Wuxi.
