Zhao Jianjun, mayor of Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province, met with Kim Seung-ho, consul general of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai, on Aug 26 to explore further cooperation.
Zhao thanked the consulate general of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai for its strong support for Wuxi's economic and social development.
The mayor said that Wuxi has seen closer exchanges with South Korea in trade and culture in recent years, and the country has become Wuxi's largest trade partner.
Wuxi is currently opening wider to the outside world and improving its modern industrial system, which requires the support of South Korean enterprises more than ever, added Zhao.
He expressed expectations that construction of major projects invested by South Korean enterprises will start as soon as possible.

He also expressed hope that under the Sino-South Korea Free Trade Area and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, their trade relations will be further enhanced and they will strengthen practical cooperation in technology, education and medical treatment.
Zhao promised that Wuxi will offer South Korea-invested enterprises the best business environment and the most convenient administrative services, as well as offer strong support for the deepening of exchanges and cooperation between the two places.
Kim thanked Wuxi for its assistance and support for South Korea-funded enterprises and South Koreans, especially during the COVID-19 outbreaks.
He noted that with a robust economy and favorable business environment, Wuxi is the hub of South Korea-funded enterprises and that he hopes more South Korean enterprises will build a presence in Wuxi.
