Wuxi-based textile giant Hodo Group became the only enterprise in Jiangsu province to win the 19th China Quality Award, the highest honor in the field of national quality, awarded by the State Administration for Market Regulation on Dec 2.
The award was created in 2012 and is given out every two years. The regulator formed the award committee this year with relevant government departments, including the National Development and Reform Commission, as well as the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The honor aims to promote scientific quality management systems, improve quality management innovation, as well as encourage and guide society to continuously improve quality in the country, said officials of the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Founded in 1957, Hodo Group has made products from knitted underwear to textiles and garments to rubber tires. It is one of the top 100 private enterprises in China.
To date, a total of five enterprises based in Wuxi have won the China Quality Award. The other four enterprises were FAW Jiefang Automotive Co Ltd Wuxi Diesel Engine Works (FAWDE), Far East Cable, Jiangsu Sunshine Group, and Xingcheng Special Steel Works Co.
As the first "National Quality City Demonstration City" in Jiangsu province and the first city of its kind to establish the "Mayor Quality Award" in the country, Wuxi has always attached importance on the high-quality development of its urban construction, according to officials from the quality development division of the local market supervision bureau.
