The gross domestic product of Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province grew by 10.7 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters of the year to 1.003 trillion yuan ($157.11 billion), the local statistical bureau announced on Oct 23.
This is the first time the economic indicator has exceeded 1 trillion yuan in the first nine months of the year. The city's industrial production has been rebounding steadily as well.
The added value of the primary industry, secondary industry and tertiary industry reached 7.76 billion yuan, 471.18 billion yuan, and 523.97 billion yuan respectively, a year-on-year increase of 1.6 percent, 12.7 percent and 9.1 percent.
In the first three quarters, the city's industrial value-added output above designated size rose by 16 percent year-on-year to reach 359.48 billion yuan, with an average growth rate of 10 percent in two years. The two-year average rate was 2.9 percentage points higher than the same period in 2019.
From January to September this year, the city's total retail sales of consumer goods reached 246.59 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.7 percent and an average increase of 5.4 percent in two years.
Foreign trade in the city during the first nine months totaled 491.43 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.3 percent. The total export value increased by 16.8 percent year-on-year to reach 299.24 billion yuan.
The per capita disposable income of Wuxi residents reached 48,026 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.9 percent and an average two-year growth rate of 7.5 percent.
